“GI, MS or SS?” It’s the most common material question we get. Each has its strengths. Here’s a plain-English comparison to help you choose the right steel for your doors, windows and gates.
Mild steel is the most economical option — strong and easy to fabricate. It comes primer-coated and is usually painted on site. Best for: budget door frames, internal doors and grilles where cost matters most. It does need a protective paint layer to resist rust.
GI is steel coated with zinc, which makes it rust-resistant out of the box. PPGI adds a baked-on colour coat for even better protection and a ready finish. This is the sweet spot for value and durability. Best for: Japani chaukhat, window frames and most home applications — rust-resistant with minimal maintenance.
Stainless steel is the premium choice — it never rusts, has a beautiful mirror or satin finish and is extremely hygienic and durable. It costs more, but it’s unbeatable for a luxurious, lasting look. Best for: main-entrance gates, showroom door frames, railings and high-end interiors.
For most homes, GI/PPGI hits the perfect balance of price, durability and looks.
